Ty Coleman is a lifelong Cedar Hill native, Cedar Hill High School graduate, and dedicated public servant with a proven record of delivering real results for communities. Starting as a volunteer at age 9 and becoming the youngest participant in Cedar Hill's Citizens Police Academy at 18, Ty has always stepped up to make a difference. He brings over a decade of municipal government experience, attaining a leadership position at 22. His career in municipal animal services spans Texas and beyond, where he launched innovative programs, community events that led to a new dog park, low-cost services that reduced shelter intakes, and efficiency improvements that dramatically boosted live release rates. These hands-on successes show Ty's ability to solve problems, build partnerships, and get things done on a budget.
Now running for City Council Place 2, Ty is committed to responsible growth, safer neighborhoods, stronger community engagement across all ages, protected parks and trails, deeper school partnerships, and expanded pet care access—all while keeping taxes affordable and Cedar Hill's natural heart intact.
With fresh energy and a focus on listening to residents, Ty is ready to bring practical leadership to our city. Join him in building a brighter future for Cedar Hill!
Cedar Hill is already one of the safest communities in the region, with declining crime trends and strong police work. As your City Councilman, I'll build on that foundation by prioritizing proactive community policing, neighborhood cleanups, and proactive code compliance to prevent issues before they start. Drawing from my experience collaborating with police departments (including my time in the Citizens Police Academy as Cedar Hill's youngest participant at 18), I'll advocate for programs that strengthen trust, support first responders, and keep our streets clean and welcoming.
Cedar Hill thrives when everyone is involved—from our youngest residents in programs like the Mayor's Teen Council to lifelong locals sharing their wisdom. As a Cedar Hill High School grad who organized major community events as a teen and volunteered since age 9, I know the power of engagement. I'll push for more inclusive opportunities: expanded youth leadership, senior programs, intergenerational events, and regular town halls so decisions reflect ALL residents, not just a few. Let's turn "The Natural Heart of the Metroplex" into a place where every generation feels heard and valued.
Great schools build great communities, and Cedar Hill ISD's success is tied to city support. Recent joint workshops show progress in partnerships focused on student outcomes and safety—let's accelerate that. As a proud Cedar Hill High Schoolalum with deep roots in youth engagement, I'll work hand-in-hand with CHISD on shared priorities: safer walking routes to school, after-school programs, joint community events, and resources that support families and educators. We must ensure every child thrives in a supportive city.
Cedar Hill's rolling hills, beautiful Joe Pool lake, trails, and green spaces define us as “The Natural Heart of the Metroplex.” With thoughtful growth on the horizon—including walkable green space developments and infrastructure investments—we must protect and enhance these assets to maintain our high quality of life. Drawing from my personal love of hiking and the outdoors, I'll champion the city's 2025 Parks and Recreation Master Plan goals: creating vibrant, eco-friendly spaces that bring joy, relaxation, and connection while adapting to our growing, diverse community. Let's expand trails, preserve natural beauty, and ensure every resident can enjoy clean, fun, and accessible outdoor recreation. I will advocate for more of a variety of trails. Equestrian trails will take Cedar Hill to the next level and will give residents another view of our beautiful city to love!
Responsible pet ownership strengthens our community, but cost barriers can lead to challenges for families and animals alike. I'll advocate for expanded low-cost services, including spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, and preventive care. My experience launching similar programs in other cities (reducing intakes and improving outcomes) shows that accessible care prevents overpopulation, supports families, and keeps neighborhoods healthier. I have organized dozens of FREE to low-cost clinics directly in underserved neighborhoods. Let's partner with local groups, explore grants (like Texas’s new statewide spay/neuter initiatives), and bring more options right here in Cedar Hill.
